Cable Systems Installer/Maintainers are primarily responsible for installing, operating, and maintaining cable and wire communications systems, communication security devices and associated equipment, including communications and electric cables between utility poles. Become a Cable Systems Installer/Maintainer and you will also gain the skills necessary for a future with civilian companies or Government agencies that design, repair, or make communications and electronic equipment. You may even get the opportunity to expand your certifications and credentials to make you that much more attractive to civilian employers. In the Army National Guard, you will learn these valuable job skills while earning a regular paycheck and qualifying for tuition assistance. Job training for a Cable Systems Installer/Maintainer consists of 10 weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and eight weeks of Advanced Individual Training.
